About Me
Hello, my name is Dan Hines and I am the owner and operator of Hines Training and Consulting.
As a young man I had the opportunity to work with kids as a summer camp counselor, youth speaker, and volunteer at my church working with the high school youth group for many years. I began my journey working with kids with trauma histories in 1984. I was hired as a shift supervisor at a coed facility for kids 7-18 years of age where I worked for 5 years. In my second year I gained my instructor certification in the Mandt Crisis Intervention Program and trained all new staff at the agency. In 1987 I was given the opportunity to travel to Topeka Kansas and put on training for a number of police officers.
I moved to Denver in 1989 and began working at Mt. St. Vincent. I have spent the last 31 years working in a number of different capacities from mental health worker to residential unit manager. I worked in the residential program at Mt. St. Vincent for over 15 years. I was given the opportunity to help develop and to pilot a crisis intervention team which focused on quick, consistent, therapeutic responses to children beginning to move into crisis in a school setting. I ran this program for 10 years. During this time I gained my CPR/FA/AED instructor certification through American Red Cross, my Crisis Prevention (CPI) instructor certification, and my Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) instructor certification. In 2005 I moved away from the intervention team and headed up the internal training department at MT. St. Vincent. During my time with the training department I have gained further instructor certifications in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools (TCIS), Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Families (TCIF) and TCI Post Crisis Response. In 2015 I was privileged to receive my Professional Level TCI Instructor Certification from Cornell University.
I am passionate about helping children and families succeed and heal. I take pride in the ability to form strong, safe relationships with children with trauma histories. I have experienced the challenges, frustrations, hopeless feelings, and yes, the successes when working with kids and families. I am very knowledgeable and very down to earth. I will never preach that I have all the answers. But over the years I have learned ways to build roadmaps that will guide kids and families
